Today, July 18, we got up at 7:30 a.m. and were on the bus by 9:00 a.m. From the bus we departed to Capernaum, which is the place that Jesus spent the majority of his adult life. While looking at the ruins we came across the house where Peter resided. During free time we took refuge under a shady tree and were approached by the stray cats which I enjoyed thoroughly. Kristen and Courtney picked up a few strays and comforted them. Many were skinny and covered in sores. Meanwhile, Ben provided water to the cats and Maggie ran away. I guess Maggie is a dog person? After that we departed for Banias at 11:00 a.m. for a look at the beautiful  waterfall. It was a short visit, where we later picked up some ice cream and had our picnic lunch. After our delicious picnic lunch we left Banias and arrived at the Pilgerhaus at 3:00 p.m. Shortly after we returned to Pilgerhaus we went for a swam and had a lakeside Eucharist with Bishop Greg  Rickel (Diocese of Olympia in Washington state). To wrap up the day we had supper and a group meeting to reflect on everything that happened today.

We visited Capernaum this morning - it was the adult home of Jesus.  This is the "white" synagogue from the third century

We visited a beautiful waterfall in the Golan Heights, near Mount Hermon

Late in the afternoon today, we had a celebration of the Holy Eucharist along the Sea of Galilee.  Carrie read the Epistle

During today's Eucharist along the Sea, we baptized a young lady (Emily) from the Diocese of Olympia.  It was a wonderful event

Later today, we had chicken fights in the Sea of Galilee
