Hey Everybody!

As usual, today was a long and hot day. Us girls didn’t get off to a very good start… We slept through about ten wake up calls and ended up getting up when breakfast was almost over. But hey, we got an extra hour of sleep. We departed at eight o’clock and went to the Basilica of the Annunciation, where the Virgin Mary was told she was going to have the baby Jesus. It was the sight of Mary’s house, where the angel Gabriel came to her. There were also many paintings portraying Mary from countries around the world, which where very pretty.

Soon we went on a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. It was a big boat, and there were a lot of people on it. Another group came with us, and they were all from Jordan, but we met a lady who grew up in Lockport! It was really refreshing after being so hot all day, and the sights were really amazing.

After visiting a few more sights, we went to lunch. It was good for some, horrible for others *cough Katie cough*. They served dead fish, fins and tails and bones and all (we would have gotten heads, but George asked for them to take it off). It made a couple people queasy, but the French fries were amazing.

Then we went to a beach along the coast of the Sea of Galilee . Well, a beach of rocks, which we got in trouble for trying to skip on the water. It was fun, and afterwards we went to the Jordan River and saw some people getting baptized. Then we came back to our new “hotel,” which is ten times better than the last one (the shower works!).

We love you and we miss you very much.

Amy, Katie, Courtney, and the rest of the Pilgrims

This is the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, receiving its name from the appearance of
the Risen Lord Jesus to the disciples along the Sea of Galilee.

We are inside the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth , where the angel Gabriel visited Mary to tell
her she would bear a son Jesus. The background is the Virgin Mary as depicted by an American artist.

This is the fish lunch as mentioned in the journal for today. Notice also the large
number of eastern Mediterranean salads on the table.
