How the St. Martins’ Silent Auction Works
And Basket (Chinese Auction) Raffle and Lottery Sombrero
You will find our awesome auction items on the tables with white and blue table covers. Each item is numbered, and is accompanied with a bid sheet that has the same number.
Each bid sheet will describe the item; list its donor and the value of the item. Starting bids are expected to be 40% of the value of the item, and are listed on the bid sheets. In addition, you will find the expected bid increments, which are figured, according to the value of the item.
In order to bid on an item, you must use ONLY your number (Names are not acceptable.) This is your exclusive bid number. Do not disclose this number to anyone, as it is intended to be anonymous. You may use this number to bid on any item displayed on the auction tables, and for an unlimited number of times for the same item.
To place a bid, you must start with the opening bid, and can out bid the previous bidder by writing your bidder number and the amount you will pay for the item on the next available line. Each bid must be at least higher than the previous bid by the expected bid increment. (For example – the highest bid on an item you wish to bid on is $ 36.00. Based on the original value, the bid increment is $ 3.00. In order to be considered the highest bidder on this item, your bid must be $ 39.00 or higher.)
Bidding for both tables will begin at 2 PM. Each table will close its auction at set times:
The white table will close bidding at 5:45 PM
The blue table will close bidding at 6:30 PM
At these times, all bidding for each table will cease, and the highest bidder listed on the bid sheet will win the item.
*Handwriting MUST be legible, or the winning bid will be the one that can be read by our tabulators.
*The highest bid MUST be higher than the last bid by the expected bid increment, or the winning bid will be the bid that has followed those guidelines.
Winning Bid numbers will be listed on our bid board. If you are the winning bidder on any item, proceed to the Auction Cashier Table with your bid id number, where you can pay by cash or check. You will then receive a receipt that you can take to our auction tables to be redeemed for your winning item.
The Basket Raffle items will be placed on the red table.
The red table will close at 7pm.
Ticket cards are $5 each or 3 cards for $10. Drawing of winning tickets begins at 7pm. After all red table winners are drawn there will be the drawing for the Lottery Sombrero Raffle.
You don’t need to be present to win as long as we have your phone number.
