HOW
THE 2009 ST. MARTIN’S SILENT AUCTION WORKS
1.
Bidding will be
done anonymously. Bidders must go to the
Auction Service Table to obtain a Bidding Number to bid by. Bidders must provide
2.
Your Bidding
Number will be your exclusive, anonymous I.D. to use throughout the
auction. Do not disclose your Bidding
Number to anyone else. Use your Bidding Number each time you bid on any item. Your Bidding Number can be used to bid on
multiple items.
3.
Auction items are
displayed and/or described on the Auction Tables. There are no other items available for
auction other than those displayed or described at the Auction Tables. Each auction item is numbered. Each auction item has a Bid Sheet located in
close proximity to the auction item on the Auction Tables.
4.
There are three
(3) color-coded Auction Tables.
They are the Red Table, White Table and the Blue
Table. Each color-coded Auction Table will
be open for bidding at
5.
Bidders place
bids at the Auction Tables by handwriting both the bid amount and
the Bidder’s Bidding Number onto the Bid Sheet.
(Bid Sheets will describe the minimum bid amount required, the required
increments for overbids, a brief description of the item, and the item’s
donor.) Please enter bids neatly on
the Bid Sheets.
6.
Highest Bid
listed on the Bid Sheet when the table closes wins the item.
7.
"Close-Out"
Bid Price is 50% above estimated value shown on the bid sheet. If you bid the
Close-Out Bid Price, kindly alert the Auction Service Table of your
bid. With your Close-out Bid, you
cannot be outbid by another bidder, and therefore are assured of winning
the item. Close-out Bidders can pay the
Auction Cashier immediately, and then have the item disbursed to them by an
Auction Service Table staff member, without having to wait for a table to
close.
8.
Bidding will
close on items located at the respective color-coded Auction Tables as follows:

9.
When bidding has
closed on a Table, the Auction Staff determines the winning bids on each item
at that table by reviewing the Bid Sheets.
10.
If your bid is
determined by the Auction Service Table Staff to be highest at the close of
bidding, report to the Auction Cashier’s Table with your bidding number I.D.,
where you can pay by Cash or Check for your item. The Auction Cashier will issue you a
receipt. Please take your receipt to
the merchandise pick up area. The
Auction Service Table Staff will match your receipt with the ticket/label on
the item that your bid has won, and you will receive your item. Congratulations on being high bidder!
